Blogs shmogs, everyone has one right? Whether its a more informed wordpress, a self-styled-celebrity blogspot or a tumblr full of well funny gifs and pictures of shit you want to eat, in 2011 it seems they are the replacement creative outlet that was once destroyed when Facebook took over with Myspace with it’s un-customisable background, the sheer peril.
It really is a losing game of battleships regarding who you follow, a name referring to distaste for parental figures, a nirvana lyric or ‘something’ cunt or cunt ‘something’, the choice is often difficult and regrettable decisions are frequently made when the next day you log on to a 13 year old with her tits out and your mum sees you and gets you counselling.
Luckily you can occasionaly strike gold, and I feel I did once I followed a blog by Sophie Convey or… iheartenidcoleslaw.tumblr.com. The blog is an array of things but what is the best about it is the AWESOME clothes that Sophie owns and we get to drool over in the occasional webcam photo. Sometimes blogs can be a real style inspiration and if you don’t follow any real-life peoples tumblr/blogspot/wordpress then I suggest you do.
With such good tastes, original style and creative output through the neatest looking zines it was obvious LB had to interview Sophie and find out more about our dream girl.
LB: Well one of the main reasons for Lo Brow wanting to interview you (read above) is your personal style, where do you find your best pieces?
SC: Pretty much all of my clothes are from charity shops & ebay, I like to steal stuff off my boyf & best friend too. I’m scared of high street stores & their prices.
LB: Who or what would you name drop as a style icon if any?
SC: Enid Coleslaw, Cindy Wilson, Kurt Cobain & Z-boys, i’m really into the wholekinderwhore thing too. Ideally, i’d wanna sometimes look a little bit classy, only sometimes. sort of like Audrey Horne or something but i’m just naturally scruffy so I never bother to put in the effort

LB: If you had to wear one outfit for the rest of your life what would it be?
SC: My friend gave me a bunch of his nirvana shirts after he lost lots of weight & needed a new wardrobe. He knew how much I loved them & about my obsession for wearing xxl shirts. One of them, the bleach one has lasted me forever now despite the fact I live in it. it’s falling to pieces & I keep chopping more & more off of it but somehow, it’s still the most beautiful item of clothing I own. I’d wear it with high waisted cut off 501s & some pair of big ugly shoes.
LB: What do you think the internet and sites like Tumblr are doing for fashion and style?
SC: I dunno really, it depends what part of the internet you’re lurking on. For people using sites like lookbook.nu & reading the vast majority of fashion blogs, probably nothing cos they all play it quite safe, nice & boring. Tumblr is a lot more exciting, users seem more inspired & want to create an almost shocking look which is way more fun. A lot of trends that i’m guessing started on Tumblr are really hitting mainstream fashion now which is weird but cool at the same time considering the majority of users are just young girls trying to find out who they really are.
LB:You are a zine-maker a twister zine maker! Your last one focused on such personal styles could you tell us more?
SC: cam girls is devoted to everyone out there who like showing off cool stuff they have on their webcams, it’s not about pretty girls looking pretty so other people can compliment them on how pretty they look. I love looking at people’s blogs & getting all jealous because of the nice things they have & it’s also real interesting to see how they piece their outfits together. It’s just fun, I think it’s fun. I realised I was in the perfect position to produce such a thing, so I did!

LB: Do you want to make more zines in the future?
SC: Yeah, I definitely wanna make more. I’m sorta working on a third one at the moment but it’s got no theme, it’s basically just my Tumblr in paper form. Seems stupid. I think I need to mess around make odd ones that don’t quite fit together to realise where I’m actually going with this & then I hope to make a regular issued zine, maybe like a new one each month. Well probably not each month, that’s way too ambitious.
LB: From your mix-tapes we can tell you have heaven sent music taste, do any particular musicians stand out to you fashion wise?
SC: When I was a teen, I listened to 2pac obsessively & would dress in crop tops & skinny jeans with air force ones/timberland boots, a little bit ghetto y’know. I thought he might have liked that. Then I got into grunge & become a grunger & I don’t think I’ve ever worn anything that’s not too big for me since. I’m still really into 2pac & Kurt & I think that’s still really obvious although I could definitely afford to be more ghetto nowadays. Maybe i’ll work on that. More recently, I’ve been trying to morph myself into Cindy Wilson from theB-52′s. I think the band as a whole have completely underrated style. I think the world would look a whole lot better if everyone dressed like they were in the B-52′s.
LB: If you were to create one rule of style that every one must abide by what would it be?
SC: Pyjamas
